Love is in the Air… February Month Picks!

on January 31, 2019

Whether you have a hot date, planning a night out with your girlfriends, or spending the night in, Valentine’s Day is a stylish and fashionable holiday to celebrate. Here are some top looks for the month of February to channel your inner flirtatious and playful persona!

1. Knit Your Love, inspo: @chicwish

Warm, chic, and flirty all in one. This playful cardigan in red can be dressed up or down creating a fun and flirty look. It’s the perfect way to cozy up with your loved one and maintain sophistication while out on your date. The rich and warm wine color will have necks turning and compliments flashing at you from every angle! Pair this with matching strap heels, ripped jeans for flavor, and a fedora hat for class.

2. On the Prowl

Leopard, cheetah, zebra… All print styles are back in! Large areas or pieces of print mixed with bold patches of color and warm undertones has taken over this season of fashion. Prints add a youthful facade to the look that engages in a flirty, fun, and playful attitude. Top off your look in a leopard cardigan, zebra throw over, or cheetah sweater on your night out this Love Day!

3. Long and Flowy

Jumpsuits are easy – they might look difficult to work with, but that’s because they’re different. They’re casual, classy, and simplistic, which could also be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. It’s easier than a tight dress, and classier than pants, yet it’s merged into the two making it a super comfortable piece. Picking between a black, cranberry, or pink silhouette should be easy on Valentine’s Day. The look for the evening can be paired with strap heels, flats, or pumps, along with your favorite signature bag. To keep warm, throw over your favorite blazer or wrap shawl.

4. Cozy and Sporty

Cozy and sporty, more like cute and preppy! Sporty is another way to make an outfit more comfortable to your liking. You may be thinking, “Isn’t that tom-boyish for Valentine’s Day?” No, not in the slightest. Cozy and sporty works for all body types, and in hues of baby pinks, it can easily become a flirtatious look for your night out. Whether you spend the night in with friends, or out on your date, you will feel super comfortable and it will show! Drop the dressy attire… spunk it up in what makes YOU cozy. Take your favorite jogger pants or leggings and match them with a turtleneck top. Pair the outfit with sleek white sneakers and a comfortable black bomber jacket!

5. Wrapped Up in Crushed Velvet

This look can easily go from casual to sexy, depending on which direction you want to go with this. Crushed velvet is code for extra seductive and elegant. If you really want to make a statement tonight, go this route. Crushed velvet adds different hues and elements of color whenever the light catches it. Where the light hits adds luminosity, while the shadowy hues where the light doesn’t touch the fit adds depth. Wrap tops or dresses adds a “peek-a-boo” detailing on the bust, which is perfect for a sensual feel. Pair the tops with sleek black jeans and pair the dress with studded strap heels.

Four Fun Fashion Tips & Tricks

Four Fun Fashion Tips

Hey Fashomistas! Spring is finally here, but now that it is we don’t know what to wear! You can take some of your essential pieces or staples and do amazing things with them. You don’t necessarily have to buy something new to feel new. So, instead of Spring cleaning out your wardrobe. Let’s talk about Spring cleaning up your look.

Springing up your look with four fun fashion tips!

  1. Spring is here, so let’s bring the skirts back out! This tip is called the rule of the French: If the skirt is above the knee, wear flats. If the skirt is below the knee, wear heels! Obviously, it is up to your discretion, but the French know fashion!

1. Where are all the short Fashomistas at?! What we wouldn’t give to look a little longer, right? Here’s a trick. When you’re wearing jeans, cuff them. It’s so simple and seems superfluous, but trust us. You’ll thank us later and so will your little legs.

2.  Are you little in the middle? Do you have a small torso? Here’s another lengthening tip, try a v neck shirt for the illusion of a longer torso!

4. What woman doesn’t love jewelry?! Embellished or large hoop earrings look really nice on thinner face structures, while drop or dangle earrings look best in rounder face structures.

Spring into Spring with these fashion tips and tricks, and you’ll be on trend and stylish! Need a little help finding what looks right on you or how to use these tips and tricks? Then, download Fashom App and check out our styling feature for all your fashion needs to be met personally for you!

Springing into Trends

on January 19, 2018

Fashomistas, we are more than halfway through January now! Time is flying by. Spring will be here before you know it, which is great because I’m ready to shed my black and white minimalist palette for some Spring colors, especially pastels. The official first day of Spring starts on the Spring Equinox, March 20th. So, we need to start stocking up and shopping for it now before the time is here ladies because the time is already near.

This Spring is coming fast Fashomistas, and here are what colors you can expect to see trending in this upcoming season! There will be blues, purples, reds, browns, yellows, greens, pinks, and greys. Pastels are coming in season again ladies, and I can’t wait! I am here for the blues, purples, and pinks for sure. Some of you may be wondering why there are browns and greys listed as a part of the Spring Color Palette. The reason for this is because with all of these beautiful bright and bold spring colors sometimes you need a neutral to mellow it out and to make it fashion. I am all for color blocking, but if you try every color under the sun you’ll end up looking like a rainbow. In fashion, that’s usually never a good thing.

Here are some Fashom outfits I personally styled for some different Spring occasions.

First up, I utilized the colors listed as “taffy”, “yolk”, and “soft grey.” Taffy is a lilac tint that belongs to the purple family and yolk is a yellow shade. If you know anything about color theory, purple and yellow are known as complementary colors because of they… Yes, you guessed it… because they complement each other. Spring is still “sweater weather.” However, it can be a bit warmer with a cool breeze. I paired this sweater and cardigan with a cute denim skirt for a nice Spring date. Don’t forget this cute little daisy bag with that small, but a saturated pop of color in it. The soft grey acts as a neutral even though the taffy is relatively muted.

Taffy, Yolk, & Soft Grey

Second, I have an outfit that utilizes the colors listed as “rose water” and “rubber sole.” These colors go together so fittingly. A nice pastel pink blouse paired with a suede mini skirt and leather booties. This could be a cute working outfit depending on your job. If you can’t wear it to work, then you could always wear it to the movies or the mall!

Rose Water & Rubber Sole

Up next is a simple, casual day outfit with the use of the colors listed as “catalyst” and “woke.” Every woman needs a good dark wash denim; it is a staple in every wardrobe no matter the style for sure. These dark jeans go great with the breezy and dreamy green blouse with its simple string bow tie. The matching bag and neutral flats complete this look. This is a nice daytime, nowhere really to go, but still, want to be a cute outfit.

Catalyst & Woke

Last but certainly not least, is the outfit that pictures the colors listed as “baby blue” and “iD.” My favorite pairing for Spring would have to be baby, light, or powder blue on light wash denim. It is a match made in Heaven! Here’s some more color theory for you. Because blue and purple are next to each other on the color wheel they are considered analogous colors. “iD” is listed as a red, but I would say it is more like the color, red-violet, which a very deep or rich hue consisting of red and purple which makes even more sense as to why this bag and these shoes look good with this blue sweatshirt; because blue and red literally make purple. Blue is already a part of red-violet. Enough book sense for you and back to the fashion sense. Who said comfy couldn’t be cute. Maybe it’s a little breezy this sweatshirt will keep you warm. My favorite parts of this outfit are the bows on the sweatshirt as well as on the pants. It makes this simple ensemble stylish and fun. This outfit is perfect for a walk in the park or anything that causes for you to be out in the Spring air.

Baby Blue & iD

If you like this Spring color palette and if these outfits seem to be just your style, then download the Fashom App ( for more outfit inspiration. Check out our new stylist feature if you want to “spring” into these trends, but need some help finding what you need, want, and actually like.

Do You Remember The Time?

I can’t ever really remember a time when fashion wasn’t a part of my life. I grew up admiring my mother who always dressed with grace and elegance. When I was a little girl I remember playing and trying on her high heeled shoes. I was always so fascinated by her collection of shoes and clothes and I was in a hurry to grow up so that one day I could fit into those pieces. When I was in middle and high school fashion literally saved my self-esteem. I suffered from a skin condition, called vitiligo which leaves depigmented patches of skin on random areas of the body. The articles of clothing and accessories that I chose to wear helped to conceal the vitiligo and made me feel normal. These days my fashion choices of bold colors and strategic pattern clashing are all about making me stand out rather than fit in.

Falling Into Place

My career in styling started with the decision to go back to school with the specific purpose of earning a degree in Fashion Merchandising and from a natural knack of understanding how to coordinate pieces. Prior to making that decision, I felt lost and creatively drained working as a General Manager in the food industry. As soon as I went back to school everything seemed to fall into place: I met a professor who acted as a mentor to me and I was hired right after graduation at the place where I had been interning. All throughout, I was free to wear the outfits that I wanted to wear and to showcase my fashion style on Instagram – which is how I got Fashom’s attention.

Pay Attention! Fashion Trends Are All Around You!

I’m fortunate to live in Brooklyn and commute into the city. When you look up and pay attention to your surroundings the latest fashion trends are all around you! Of course, I am on Instagram all the time following street style stars like Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert, Anna Dello Russo, Vika Gazinskaya, Miroslava Duma, etc – the more outrageous the girl the better. Finally, I love the old school method of flipping through a fashion magazine. My favorites right now are Marie Claire and Harper’s Bazaar.

When You Feel Good You Look Good!

Making people feel good through the knowledge that they look good.

Fashion = Therapy

There’s a misconception that people who follow fashion are materialistic. I disagree. I’ve always believed that fashion styling – the process of looking put together – can be very therapeutic.

Introducing Fashom Stylist – Amy

on December 29, 2017

Fashion knows NO age!

It’s hard to pinpoint an age when I first became fascinated with fashion. I think I’ve always loved it. I remember in early primary school I’d spend all my mornings before school drawing and designing clothing with a friend (None of which I actually made as I wasn’t really too keen on the actual sewing part). I did do well in home ec in high school but didn’t own a sewing machine until recently, so I’ve started to make a few simple things now that I own one. It’s only been in the last 6 years where fashion has really come to the forefront for me again though. I take great delight in coming up with unique pairings and finding one of a kind piece.

The Styling Start-Up.

I was feeling creatively suppressed at my day job and instead went to my daily outfits for my creative outlet, that’s when I decided to start my blog Style Within Grace (although it was called Faith Filled Femme at first). I wanted to share the outfits I was coming up with and help give advice and style those who had trouble themselves. I’ve been growing my blog for about 5 years now. Earlier this year I went to a become a stylish day-long workshop with the Australian Style Institute to see if it was something I wanted to pursue and I loved every minute of it. I wanted to sign up for their course right away but have been putting aside money all year long so I could take it and have finally signed up to do it February next year. I can’t wait.

Staying in the KNOW and ON TREND.

I follow a lot of other fashion bloggers and vloggers and I’m constantly looking for my favorite brands’ websites to see what new items they have coming in.

Styling Esteem!

I think in the end it’s not about the clothing it’s about the attitude and confidence the clothing can bring! The best thing about styling is seeing the renewed confidence in a client because she now feels like herself and she feels comfy in her own skin.

Style knows NO wrong!

You can’t be wrong when it comes to style, if you feel good in it, you look good in it!

Fashion says “me too” style says “only me”

on December 5, 2017

We believe that your body is a great gift that you should care about and show that you love it. Amazing outfits not only show your beauty and express your personality.

Such representation of culture and personality is displayed by ‘Asmaa Elamrousy’ who is a Community Engagement Coordinator for an NGO that is called the Muslim American Leadership Alliance (MALA), which dedicated to promoting diversity, leadership and celebrating Muslim American heritage through storytelling.

FASHOM2ndroundFinals (35 of 63)

Asmaa told us about her different styles of dressing depending on the environment. For a normal workday at MALA, she tends to rock comfy shoes, blazers, dress shirts, long vests and flattering bootcut pants. But her personal style preference is to wear statement accessories, heels, embellished jackets, sparkly/sequin dresses, leather jackets and hats for her artist’s lifestyle.

In this photoshoot, Asmaa is dressed in a burgundy dree top with navy blue bootcut pants, she wore burgundy half boots and put on a navy blue hijab scarf that matches with the clothing colors. She chose to wear a grey bag to add contrast to her outfit, in addition to a long necklace with a cute squared pendant.

Style is something each of us already has, all we need to do is find it.

on November 29, 2017

Fashom’s story began when we found that all fashion apps were flooded with photoshopped images. As a mission, we created a family of Fashom users who believe in being themselves in front of the camera. We are now ready to take the next step.

We don’t believe in changing anyone, we want to help you look the best version of you. Very soon, Fashom will offer brand new styling features but you have to wait for it:).

A couple of weeks ago, we invited some members of the Fashom family in New York City to showcase our new features.

Kerlon Francis works as an IT Analyst and is also a business owner of an e-commerce store “Kay The Shoeist”.

FASHOM2ndroundFinals (24 of 63)

She told us that she loves her shoes and for a day to day outfit she would match it with a statement necklace. Being busy as an IT professional, it often poses challenges to manage time. That’s where Fashom wants to help all those busy women to bring their best out to the world.

Kelorn’s style is poise and bold in those wide-legged trousers, striped top with a statement necklace and high heels.

FASHOM2ndroundFinals (22 of 63).jpg

We believe you don’t have to change anything about you, you are beautiful just the way you are. You are probably as excited as us to see what’s coming next, but all good things come at the right time! Stay tuned…

Take your fashion to the world

Take your style to the world!

–essential travel clothes and tips

I am going to France for two weeks, and I am going to take a lot of pictures!!

What should I do to pack my clothes for 14 days’ trip?

Before you go

• Check out the local weather before you go so you can decide what to pack for the trip.

• Make a plan for your trip. You can pack your shoes and clothes base on the plan.

Essential travel clothes

The tank can be matched with a lot of styles. You can pair your tank with skirt, shorts or jeans. It is light, and you do not need a lot of room for it.

A simple T-shirt never goes wrong. Same as the tank, T-shirt can be a perfect match with any bottom. The good idea is bringing a simple and one color T-shirt.

Always bring a cardigan with you because you will never know if the weather changes. You can bring a light color cardigan to match your dark or white shirt or tank.

It highly depends on the weather of your destination. You can always bring a jean with you. You can also bring some short and skirt depend on the weather.

You need a sneaker if you walk a lot in the upcoming trip. Also, you can bring a ballet shoe which is flexible and easy to carry

A beautiful scarf can be a plus for your look. You can bring two different color silk scarves with you.

For a long time trip, do not pack heavy clothes and take a picture of every outfit you will wear for each day! Now, you will never forget what to bring, and you do not need to spend time on what should you wear every day.

Most importantly is to have a good mood, be happy and confident! Enjoy your trip!
