We all await that time of year where we can pull out our cozy knits for our everyday activities whether it be work, a night out, or just curling up by the fire and binge watching our favorite new series  and we are finally right at peak comfy weather. Knits are effortless and comfortable but have also shown up in so many more forms than just the usual oversized sweater this season. Cropped:

Our favorite sweaters have been cropped this season either in length or by sleeves. We adore this chic variation on the classic sweater from Papermoon, which can be worn with or without a shirt underneath to casual or formal occasions. Wearing this style can be simple—just throw on a nice pair of high waisted black jeans or printed skirt, a pair of pumps, and you’re ready for anything!

Sweater Dresses:

Often thought of as more on the casual side, knits can also be easily worn to formal events as we’ve seen on many runways. Sweater dresses are comfortable and versatile enough that they can be worn from day to night without batting a lash, like this one from Chris & Carol! We’re all for the sweater dress trend, which can be styled with an oversized belt and/or knee-high boots.

Cardigans:

Another favorite trend this season is knit cardigans. Traditionally worn over a shirt or blouse, a great new way of styling these classic pieces is by buttoning them up and wearing them alone. Whether you wear them on or off-the-shoulder, they look put together and give your wardrobe a fresh spin!

This sweater season, we’ve seen knits come in all different shapes, colors, and fabrics. From co-rd knits in bright neon to puff sleeves to button downs to half zips, knits can be worn to any event whether it is easy and laid back or elegant and chic. Warm knits remain one of the most comfortable items to wear and only take an extra few seconds to make perfect for any occasion!

Layer Love

on January 8, 2020

Post-holiday winter season is finally here, which means you can finally put away all the extra glitter and sequins, and start focusing on your everyday looks as you slip into your everyday routine once again (even if we wish we still had at least another week off). If you’re like me, you definitely want to continue living your best, ‘Hot Girl Summer’ life all year long. However, there are many fun and unexpected ways to layer pieces for these cooler months of the year. Wearing layers doesn’t have to be as heavy or complex as it may sound, so here are a few tips from our stylists at FASHOM with easy yet stylish ways to layer this season (featuring some of our new arrivals!):

A colorful over-the-knee coat with pleather gloves and a printed scarf adds a pop of brightness to what can be a dreary ensemble after a while. This is an easy way to make a casual or work outfit feel fun and fresh while staying warm.

A solid-color jumpsuit layered under a coated jacket or textured cardigan, a pair of patterned booties, and a daring lip is the perfect transitional combination whether this look be for the office or an evening out with your best gal pals!

A trench coat and a bold knit sweater paired with a textured skirt under tights is an easy way to bring a hint of chic elegance to your everyday wardrobe this winter. Not only is this outfit fun, but it looks perfectly on-trend without needing the help of a glam squad!

Rosé All Winter Day

on December 28, 2019

You have probably heard of ‘rosé all day’ but have you heard of ‘rosé all winter day’? Rosé is that beautiful tone between pink and beige that is, arguably, also associated closely with the ‘millennial pink’ movement that you have seen everywhere since essentially 2014. To be perfectly honest, that color range can appear to be a bit boring to some on its own or make you think it could wash you out but sometimes things are not as they appear, and this is one of them. We are going to give you a few fun ideas on how to add this perfectly on-trend pink-tinted nude to your winter closet with ease, and hint how you can even play with it in layers (😱) . I know you might be thinking ‘more than one shade of pink is not really me’ but there is certainly a difference between what we have in mind and the idea you may have in your head at the moment that makes you believe you could resemble an actor in a Pepto Bismol commercial.

The true secret here is simply that it is all in the details. Whether that it be pulling from already present pink tones in the color of a flower on your dress or bringing rosé into a monochromatic look, incorporating this trend is much more elementary than it might seem at first. Adding a splash of rosé can transform any outfit. When there is an ensemble with more that one shade of pink, it is always important that they either be broken up (typically this is easiest with a neutral color) or be of the same tone (i.e. not a vibrant hot pink with a blush next to each other) so that they still mesh well together without clashing. For example, a beige turtleneck with a rosé-esque faux-fur jacket/cardigan paired with beige boots is a cohesive and simple way to be on trend during the last round of your holiday parties.

This specific look above is more on the bold side of how to pull off the layered look but the way everything is paired together here is such a great diagram for how to apply this trend without making it overwhelming on you. The leather jacket, black boots, black graphic/embellished tee, and pink tulle skirt scream individuality with an edge but it is not exactly something many of us can pull off on a casual Tuesday night. So, we break it down! Instead of pulling pink hues from a bouquet of flowers, try pulling it from a favorite pattered top or sweater of yours and pairing it with either a blush sneaker or even just coordinating it to your lipstick. Another alternative is simply to throw on a pair of blush jeans/leggings with a casual look you would typically just round off with your usual denim or even layer a rosé cardigan on top of a dark color long sleeve t-shirt/light sweater to help give contrast.

How to Blend Seasons: The Distressed Sweater

on January 18, 2019

Cover photo credit: @tarabuono

Merging seasons together with style can be tedious and tricky; one season is relatively warm while the other is relatively cold. So, you might ask: What do I wear? Moving into the Spring time while it’s still Winter is not all that difficult. Or, merging from the summertime into the Fall isn’t all that tricky. In fact, it’s quite fun because you get to mix warm clothing with Spring, bold colors, or Summer clothing with darker colors. I take this experience as a challenge to see which direction your different tastes and particular styles go in.

1. Winter into Spring

We’re in that weird “in-between-seasons” season where it’s still freezing and relatively cold in some areas of the globe and beginning to get cool and warm in other parts. Merging from the depths of freezing Winter into the chill and relaxed Spring season is the hardest way to clean out your whole wardrobe between seasons. Sweaters keep you warm for the Winter, while pastel colors such as blues, pinks, and yellows can keep the Spring vibe ongoing throughout the outfit. The distressed hinges add a lightweight feel to the silhouette and roughens up the look, as opposed to the usual oversized Winter sweater that hangs low on the body and makes the look too baggy. This sweater adds a savage physique that can be fitted for every body type.

2. Spring to Summer

Sweaters in the Summer!? No way! I know what you’re thinking, but it’s how you wear it. Summer is scorching hot pretty much 24/7 (unless you live in Alaska), and you need something aerated or lightweight to keep you from dying. A lightweight, brightly colored distressed sweater is breezy and comfortable in the Spring and summertime. It’s edgy, bohemian, and chic, especially to wear along the shore or by the beach. Having it cropped by the waist allows that real summer look to sink in. Pairing this with shorts or bathing suit bottoms adds a stylistic flair and statement piece to your fit of choice.

3. Summer to Fall

One of many people’s favorite seasons: Fall. It’s the layering, the plaid, the boots and booties, the scarves, the vests… Fall is a fun season to individualize style and coziness. This is another tricky “in-between-seasons” season because we just came from really hot Summer, and now we’re drifting into breezy cool Fall. The distressed sweater is perfect for this occasion. Think about it, when it’s freezing in the mornings but really hot in the afternoons, the distressed sweater allows you to walk out of the house in just that and you’ll be fine for the rest of the day. It keeps you warm in the mornings and will leave you comfortable in the afternoons because you don’t have to wear any other heavy coats or vests for the rest of the day. Orange, cranberry red, and white are perfect colors for the October-December months. Orange for Halloween, cranberry red for Thanksgiving, and white representing purity for Christmas. Pair these outfits with slim jeans, your favorite booties, and a statement crossbody to finish the look.

4. Fall to Winter

Cold, cold Winter is approaching. This is the time to break in the oversized sweaters because it is almost too cold to not to. Oversized sweaters are cute and homey for the wintertime and can be worn for any special occasion. Grays, reds, and taupes are perfect to match the cold season. Pairing the top with slim jeans, knee high boots, a knit hat, and turtle neck layers underneath keep you alive during this brutal season. When you aren’t too busy hibernating in the Winter, take on the new trend of the distressed sweater as your first pick when you strut outside.

5 Style Tips to Live by this Summer!

on June 7, 2018

Summer is finally upon us which means it’s time to break out your shorts and sundresses and have some fun in the sun! It’s also important to remember some tips to looking and feeling your best this summer season and we’re here to help. Below are five fashion ‘rules’ to keep in mind this summer:

750 px all white outfit

1. Don’t be afraid to wear all white. While wearing an entirely white outfit may seem intimidating, it can actually be super stylish and eye-catching during the summer, especially when you dress it up with fun jewelry. Just be careful not to drip your ice cream on it (wink, wink)!

750 px dress

2. Black is not just a winter color. Just like it’s okay to wear all-white outfits during the summer, it’s also okay to wear black on black, too! People are often hesitant to wear black during the summer as they don’t want their outfit to seem boring, but just like those all-white outfits, with the right accessories, a totally black outfit can be just as fun as one that is hot pink!

750 px converse

3. Sneakers add a fun twist to any outfit. Some people might feel that pairing sneakers with a sundress looks underdressed or just plain unstylish, but it’s actually the opposite! Sneakers, such as a pair of Converse or Vans, go perfectly with so many summer outfits, and they make for a good balance between casual and fancy.

750 px tassel earrings

4. Accessorize with earrings. When accessorizing an outfit, many people think of necklaces and bracelets before they think of earrings. However, earrings are just as important and can add a pop of color to the upper half of an outfit which is essential for a great summer look!

750 px rose gold sunglasses

5. Sunglasses complete an outfit. Gone are the days when sunglasses were simply used to shield your eyes from the sun. Now, sunglasses are the perfect accessory to add a little flair to your look. We’re loving the rose gold shades this season!

Let us know your thoughts on these tips and if there are any you definitely would or would not wear. We’d also love to hear any tips of your own!
